What NorthTally is (and isn’t)

NorthTally is a travel decision engine. It computes and compares the real total cost of trip options and recommends between them. It is not a travel agency, booking site or payment processor: all bookings happen on partner sites, under their terms, at their prices.

Prices are indicative

Every price in NorthTally is an estimate or a cached indication of what a partner charged at some point. The only price that matters is the live price on the partner’s site at booking time. We mark our confidence (Confirmed / Estimate / Needs update) honestly, but we make no guarantee that any shown price is available or bookable.

Affiliate disclosure

When you follow a partner link (e.g. Trip.com, Aviasales) and book, NorthTally may earn a commission. This never changes the price you pay and never changes our ranking: recommendations are computed by a deterministic scoring engine from cost, quality and location — commissions are not an input.

Not affiliated

NorthTally is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the hotel, airline, or car-rental brands it displays. Brand names appear only to identify the options being compared.

Travel guides and third-party content

NorthTally publishes travel guides (the /guides pages). They are founder-curated and AI-assisted: a language model helps draft the narrative, but every price and figure is computed by our deterministic scoring engine — the AI never invents numbers. Guides are for general information and may become out of date; check current prices, opening times and conditions on the relevant partner or official site before you rely on them.

Guides include third-party content under its own licence, attributed on the page: map and place data from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL), and photography from Wikimedia Commons (each under its own Creative Commons or public-domain licence), from partner/affiliate sources, and our own. Those licences govern any reuse of that content.

Your content

Text you paste and trips you save remain yours. You grant us only what’s needed to operate the service (store it, process it through the subprocessors named in the Privacy Policy, show it back to you). Delete your account any time — it removes everything.

Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service: no scraping our API, no automated bulk queries, no attempts to access other users’ data, no reselling of our outputs. We may suspend accounts that do.

No warranty / liability

The service is provided “as is”. Travel decisions are yours: verify prices, dates, visas and conditions on the booking partner’s site before paying. To the maximum extent permitted by law, NorthTally’s liability is limited to the amount you paid us (currently: nothing — the product is free).

Changes

We’ll post material changes here with a new date. Continued use after a change means acceptance.
